- New facility in Hillsboro will open this month. Looking for property for a clinic in Oregon City. New building planned for Vancouver for office space and all dental will be moving to Vancouver.
- Home visitation program is coming online. Asking for volunteers to visit home bound veterans and nursing home inpatients. Will need a lot more volunteers and will begin allowing nursing home visits again (did this many years ago but was stopped due to confidentiality issues).
- Vancouver VAMC has already seen more than 6000 more patients this year than they saw last year. Newly returning veterans are to be assigned to a primary care provider within 24 days. Over 1000 people showed up at the welcome home celebration last month and this will become an annual event. Welcome Home bags are now being provided to new veterans with phone cards, shopping incentives, chamber of commerce information and are being paid for by the Vancouver VAVS group (money raised by selling popcorn and ice cream).
